Francelia Butler pioneered the study of children's literature. She was Professor of English at the University of Connecticut, founding director of the Children's Literature Association, founding editor of the journal Children's Literature, and created the Foundation for Contributed Thought on Peace. In 1992, she donated her personal collection of juvenile literature to the library and transferred the editorship of the journal to Hollins College |
